Good Evening All!
We have had a beautiful day here at the Catalina Island Marine Institute. All the students are fast asleep, wiped out from a very fun day!
We arrived at CIMI to clear waters and warm weather. The students settled into their dorms before we went on our first snorkel. Spotting several different fish and an octopus delighted our students who all did a wonderful job following directions and squeezing into their wetsuits.
Dinner was salad, meatballs and spaghetti. Plates were full and everyone left the dining hall with a smile on their face.
During the evening, the students either learned about nocturnal animals, or participated in a night dive. Those students who learned about nocturnal animals participated in a challenging dive that mimics how nocturnal animals use their senses to survive at night. The students on the night dive were able to go out in the ocean during the night and witness the bio luminescent plankton shine in the ocean. It was a memorable night, getting all the students tucked in and ready for bed!
Tomorrow holds more fun and adventure. Every group will kayak, either in the morning or afternoon. We didn't have time to upload any pictures today, but we will be sure to take pictures tomorrow and send them your way.
Thank you all for your support leading up to this trip to make it such a success!
